I think it's safe to say after a month of living in this thing that we are "crushing Vanlife". It's getting easier and easier to live in such a small space. I'm excited to go off-grid tomorrow and see how many days we can make it before we need to drive into town. I'm thinking we can go for 10 days at least, but we are going to aim for 14. We are new at this so we might be way off.
We will Vlog about the whole off-grid experience so you guys won't miss anything. We are meeting another couple who live in the van that we've only interacted with through Facebook. They seem great and I'm looking forward to socializing a little more than we have been. (While at a distance of course). Forest Dance parties!??!!?! Yup, I think so.
Doing all these little fixes on the van keeps cutting into our travel budget. It's also been a distraction from all of the inner work we've been wanting to do on our travels. Going off-grid for a couple of weeks should help our spending as well as teach us how to survive on less while turning inward.
How are we going to survive without a bathroom you ask??? Well as I write this Andrew is building us a shower on the roof, he's confident he can have it working well for us by tomorrow before we leave. I will let you know how that goes next week. We purchased an outdoor porta potty before we left Calgary that we have yet to use, so I'm sure I'll have some stories about how that goes. (Pray for me).
I'm sad to be leaving Oliver as it's a friendly and cozy town, but we will be returning here once the economy opens to experience it in full swing. We've heard in late May or so the cherries start blooming and you can get paid to pick cherries all day, we may try that for a week. I can't believe I've been living in Canada's wine capital for a month and haven't gotten to check out a winery yet. When we return that'll be happening for sure, I've never been to one.
I don't have much to say to you all this week as this is a pretty big video that speaks volumes about how we've been living. It's a long one but it's worth watching to understand how Vanlife works for us. It should give you a few chuckles, at least I think I'm funny :p Fell free to leave us comments or questions as we love interacting with followers
