The hike to Chester Lake is a 9.7 KM loop. Chester Lake is always calling me to go back!
There's just something magical about that place. You can go spend the day solo with a book or venture up with friends. I have yet to do this hike in the winter, although I hear the lake is beautiful when it's frozen. I've also heard the view of the Larches are beautiful in the fall.
I like to go on a hot day when you can jump in the lake to cool off. I've seen people fishing or floating on tubes as well. I plan on snowshoeing this hike in the winter at some point. I'd say kids could handle this hike, and dogs are allowed on a leash.
Once you reach the Lake you can go up the trail further and there are some beautiful rocks to climb ad enjoy with higher views. I recommend doing this as the hike is only moderate.
