Teaching My First Wellness Class

As I write this now in March of 2020 it is interesting to look back on how far I've come since October 2019. I was having so much anxiety leading up to that first wellness class. It really didn't make sense to be that nervous since I was only teaching friends and not charging them anything for the class.

Maybe it was the gravity of all the changes and the fact that I knew it was a first step in a completely different direction.

I have since taught approximately 12 wellness classes. Slowly getting more comfortable every class and having fun incorporating new ideas. MimaChi has been in the works in my head since 2017 through my post concussion syndrome. What if I incorporated Qigong (Thai chi), yoga, mediation, dance, and martial arts ideas in a new fun way??

Breath and movement can be designed into anything we choose, it doesn't always have to be silent or repetitive. It shouldn't have to feel like a chore. It can be fun, a family activity even.

We live in a very busy world, and it is important to take time to calm the mind and body while releasing stress. I dream of making this more mainstream in Canada. Designing classes that are fit for kids, elders, fitness buffs, parents, teens, and everyone in between.

MimaChi will be a work in process over the next decade or so, but I know it'll all be worth it.
